Top 100 Apprentice Employers Table 2018-19 Announced

Apprenticeship website,, has released its annual Table of the best apprentice employers in the UK.

Based on over 4,200 reviews from apprentices and school leavers, the rankings incorporate ratings from a variety of schemes, including apprenticeships (Level 2 to Level 7), traineeships, gap year programmes and work experience opportunities.

BAE Systems has taken the top spot for 2018/19, rising up the rankings from second place last year. The global defence, security and aerospace systems organisation secured an impressive average review score of 8.7 out of 10, with a staggering 99% of their apprentices answering “yes” when asked if they would recommend their apprenticeship programme to a friend.

Amongst BAE Systems were National Grid in 2nd place, construction company BAM Nuttall coming in as a new entrant to the Table straight into 3rd position, and the BBC close behind in 4th place. Special mention goes to IT infrastructure provider Softcat, who rose from 98th position last year to break the top ten this year!

The reviews that build the Top 100 Table ask apprentices about all aspects of their scheme, ranging from amount of responsibility given, training and development opportunities and whether students feel valued by their colleagues. Their overall impressions of the company also count towards the final rankings.
