On Wednesday 19th February, we were invited to The Sunday Times Top 100 Small Businesses To Work For Awards 2020. As the Awards are based on workplace engagement and feedback on management, my co-founder Ali and I proudly took all the heads of department to the Awards ceremony in the impressive Evolution in Battersea for a night we’ll all never forget.
To make the Top 100 for the first time was incredible… To finish 37th! Wow, it was phenomenal.
Having started the business in 2007, going from our ideas sessions in the library at Loughborough University (when we should have been revising...), to quitting our graduate jobs 18 months later and living out of each others back bedrooms, to today, with a wonderful team of 50 people in our offices in Brixton; it was an immensely proud moment.
We don’t often look back and reflect. The conversations with grandparents with a beaming smile, shoulder rub and a ‘Oh haven’t you done well’ are always lovely, but it’s not in either of our natures to sit back and reminisce.
That’s why these moments and these events are so special.
We’ve grown the business each and every year through constantly developing our products, enabling employers to attract and engage with the best talent and supporting universities to raise the profile of the importance of work experience. But the secret to our success is the people.
The average tenure in the business is at an all-time high of 48 months. We’ve two of our very first employees in their 10th year at RMP - a decade at RMP!
In the survey, 100% of staff agreed ‘My manager cares about me as an individual’ and as the survey is a direct reflection on the management, we’re so pleased to also receive a three-star accreditation for extraordinary levels of employee engagement and share this success across the management and wider team.
Thank you to everyone who we’ve worked with across the past 13 years, we are extremely grateful for all your support as we continue to inspire young people to take the first step in their career.
